Dividing groups of students in a driving school into automatic and manual transmissions. Pros and cons

Two years ago, changes were made to the clause “On permission to drive a vehicle”: the license for an automatic transmission will differ from the license for a manual transmission. According to experts, no serious differences have been made. Only an additional column has been added, indicating that the student was driving the car on an automatic and does not know how to handle mechanics.

Five years ago, driving licenses were also changed. For example, on the back of the rights there is a table of categories. Their number has increased compared to the old certificate. The valid period of the license also differs depending on the group in which the driver was trained.

What is the difference between the rights to a manual and an automatic with category “B”

The license issued for an automatic transmission does not differ externally from the manual license. The front surface is completely identical to the control unit on the manual transmission.

The only difference between the rights to the machine gun is the marking that supplements the rights of group “B”. A driver who has received this type of license is strictly prohibited from driving a car with a manual transmission installed.

Attention! These data are noted in the additional information of the Europrotkol after the accident.

What symbol represents the machine?

The back of the driver's license consists of a table. It lists all groups of vehicles existing in Russia. There are 7 main types of vehicles.

There are also subcategories. There are only 4 of them. Opposite the group for which the cadet is training, the start date of the driver’s license is placed, then the expiration date and a mark.

This symbol is represented by two capital letters "AT". The machine is placed only opposite category “B” in column 14. It is located at the bottom of the document under the category table.

Having dealt with the differences between documents for a car with an automatic transmission and the place where the driver’s license indicates that the car owner has learned to drive a manual or automatic transmission, the reader will learn about the difficulties of driving a car with a manual transmission.

Differences in driving documents

In appearance, the documents confirming a citizen’s right to drive a vehicle with a manual or automatic transmission are very similar. The reverse side contains special marks that make it possible to differentiate this right according to various indicators.

From this year, driver's licenses contain two additional lines called “Special Marks” (on the back of the document):

  • Column 12 indicates restrictions for each vehicle category.
  • Column 14 records restrictions on all categories established in a specific license - where the license specifies automatic or manual.

IMPORTANT! When applying for a driver’s license based on the results of passing the test in a car with an automatic transmission, a special mark is entered in line 14: “AT”, which gives the driver the right to drive only a car with an automatic transmission. For drivers who have passed the exam in a car with a manual transmission, there are no restrictions on driving a car with an automatic transmission.

Thus, the answer to the question of whether it is possible to drive a manual car if you learned to drive an automatic car will be negative. It is prohibited for drivers who have been trained in a car with an automatic transmission and have received the appropriate license with a special mark to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission.

What is the difference between training for a manual and automatic driving license?

Driving with a manual transmission requires increased care:

  • while driving;
  • at the traffic light;
  • when performing maneuvers on turns, turns or in other cases.

It is necessary to be able to react in a timely manner when changing gears, first pressing the clutch pedal and then the gas. The driver must remember that first gear is engaged, then second, third, etc. There is no need to do this on an automatic transmission. The computer will decide everything for the driver.

Attention! Driving with a manual transmission requires good reaction, concentration and refined movements. Any confusion may lead to an accident.

Otherwise, training for automatic and manual transmission licenses is the same.

  1. Instructors teach traffic rules. Students study them and remember them. They take short tests on the material covered.
  2. They study the design of a vehicle with automatic and manual transmission.
  3. They are told about road accidents and what to do in the event of a road accident.
  4. The ability to provide first aid to a person involved in a traffic accident is studied.
  5. After the theoretical rules are memorized, the instructor begins training future drivers at the race track.
  6. And only after this, the driver, in the presence of an instructor, can go to a populated area and undergo city driving training.

Which is better and more reliable, CVT or automatic?

If a student wants to study for category “C”, then he first undergoes training for “B”, and only then receives admission to “C”.

Why do you need a mark?

The installation of automatic transmissions in all classes of passenger cars, minivans, and SUVs made it possible to soften the requirements for the skills of driving school cadets in shifting gears in a manual transmission.

If a cadet does not want to study “mechanics”, planning to use only an “automatic”, then the training is carried out in a car with an automatic transmission, and an o is placed on the driver’s license, which is a restriction in the category being opened, and prohibits driving a car equipped with a manual transmission.

When asked whether it is possible to drive a manual transmission if you learned to drive an automatic transmission, the answer is unequivocal - it is prohibited . To drive a manual vehicle, the driver must retrain and additionally take a re-examination at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.

Learning to drive with a manual transmission is more difficult than with an automatic transmission; it requires the development of additional skills in driving a car using a clutch, knowledge of gear ratios, vehicle speed and engine speed, and an understanding of the operating modes of the engine and transmission in different road conditions and on different terrain.

Having learned to drive a car with a manual transmission, switching to driving a car with an automatic transmission is easy and does not require the development of additional skills. Rights without o are considered universal.

Therefore, to the question of whether it is possible to drive an automatic transmission if you studied with a manual transmission, the answer is yes - it is allowed.

What is the best way to study and what is the best way to pass the exam?

Instructors advise training on a manual transmission. The more attentive a road user is, the fewer accidents he will commit. Experts say learning automatically gives a false sense of security. But a computer will not be able to react faster than a human in some situations.

Mechanical engineering requires a person to take a longer course. Skills must be honed. But the positive aspects of learning to drive a manual transmission are undeniable.

Driving a car with manual and automatic transmissionCanNo, only automatic
Training for category "C"CanNot possible (you must first pass your manual transmission license)

But, the permission to choose to hand over your license only to a manual or only to an automatic was still established by the law of the Russian Federation of 2013. Therefore, now any student has the right to choose which vehicle he will be allowed to drive.

When driving a car with an automatic transmission, there are a number of subtleties:

  • The automatic transmission warms up regardless of weather conditions. A cold box will not be able to quickly process the data received from the on-board computer and will lead to the possibility of an accident, especially on slippery roads. In winter, experienced car owners recommend warming up the machine to 60 degrees Celsius, and in summer it will take three minutes to warm up to this temperature;
  • The car should be started from the position of the gear selector “Parking” or “Neutral”. The car will not start from other positions;
  • Before driving, move the gearbox handle to position “D”.

If the driver is driving a car with an automatic transmission, then the left foot should be placed on a special instep. Since such cars have only two pedals.

Is it possible to take your license automatically?

Future drivers are interested in which gearbox they should use to take the test. The law establishes the following rules:

  • If a student gains driving skills with a manual transmission, then he must take a manual transmission license test. It is not recommended to undergo training on the machine;
  • If a student gains driving skills with an automatic transmission, then the exams must be taken by an instructor using an automatic transmission.

Before choosing which course of study to take, a new cadet should consider whether it will turn out that the student will have to drive a car with an automatic transmission. Or maybe he wants to get the rights to group “C”.

Is it possible to drive an automatic if you passed your manual license?

The license that a driver receives after completing mechanics training is universal. These cadets can drive any passenger vehicle. Those who have learned to drive a car with an automatic transmission can drive a car with an automatic transmission, a CVT or a robot.

According to statistics, the majority of women receive a driver's license to drive a vehicle with an automatic transmission. Studying and passing exams for a machine gun license has a short time frame and low cost.

School programs change frequently. Therefore, upon admission, the cadet must learn all the nuances. Students can choose the brand of car in which they prefer to take exams or study.

What are automatic transmission clutches and how to replace them yourself

If a driver who has received a permit to drive a car with an automatic transmission gets behind the wheel of a car with a manual transmission, he will pay a fine in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation in an amount of up to 15,000 rubles.

Basic rules for driving manually

Driving a car equipped with a manual transmission requires full concentration from the driver. You have to constantly use both legs and both hands to change gears when accelerating and braking a car in a manual transmission. Squeeze the clutch with your left foot, press on the gas or brake with your right. The left hand should always be on the steering wheel, and the right hand should be periodically used to select the speed with the gearshift knob.

Unlike an automatic transmission, a manual transmission needs to be switched at a certain moment for the car to accelerate smoothly. Each speed has its own range of engine speed.

The device that shows the corresponding mark on the scale is called a tachometer. It is located in the center of the dashboard.

Reasons why a car with an automatic transmission does not move forward or backward

Starting a car with the clutch depressed

Starting the engine implies the start of operation of a complex mechanism that has cooled down during parking and has not been subject to constant lubrication. Rotating the crankshaft, which is connected to the transmission shaft, is not an easy task for a manual starter. When the clutch is depressed, it is easier for the engine to start, since the connection between the two units is disconnected.

On some models of modern cars with “mechanics”, the engine starts only when the clutch pedal is pressed. Otherwise the car will not start. This approach ensures long-term operation of the motor and its trouble-free operation.

How to get moving

The stumbling block for a driver who decides to switch from an automatic to a manual is the process of starting to move. There are no difficulties with this on an automatic machine. Even experienced motorists can accidentally stall at a traffic light by releasing the clutch too quickly. The engine speed at which the car starts to move may vary. It all depends on the settings of the clutch and ignition. But the algorithm of actions for all manual boxes is the same:

  1. Start the engine, making sure that the manual transmission lever is in the “neutral” position.
  2. Press the clutch pedal all the way with your left foot.
  3. Move the gearshift knob to the first speed position.
  4. Smoothly depress the clutch pedal and simultaneously press the gas pedal with your right foot.
  5. After waiting until the car starts moving, you can release the clutch pedal all the way.
  6. If the car begins to jerk and stall, quickly press the clutch again and begin the process of moving away.

To practice this exercise, it is recommended to repeat the entire algorithm several times. Over time, the driver gets used to the operation of the “mechanics” and the engine, and he manages to get underway the first time.

How to move off with the handbrake

One of the difficult exercises practiced in a driving school is the so-called “overpass” - starting a car with the handbrake while on an inclined surface. For those who are planning to switch from an automatic to a manual, it will be unusual to use the handbrake when driving uphill. On a car equipped with an automatic transmission, any movement begins with releasing the brake pedal. The exercise consists of several sequential actions:

  1. The car drives up a hill and stops.
  2. To park the car on a slope, apply the handbrake, then release the brake pedal.
  3. The car may remain in this position for some time, for example, while standing at a traffic light or in a traffic jam.
  4. You need to start moving so that the vehicle does not roll back. To do this, you need to reproduce all the steps for starting off.
  5. At the moment when the tachometer needle reaches 2000 - 3000 rpm, the car is ready to move, but the handbrake holds it. At this time it is turned off, and the car immediately moves forward without rolling back.

This method of stopping on an inclined surface can be carried out on a car with a working handbrake. The owner of a manual vehicle must always monitor the condition of all mechanisms and devices responsible for driving safety.

When to shift to neutral on a manual transmission

There are many myths about when you need to engage neutral gear on a manual transmission and whether you can coast. First of all, “neutral” is intended for towing a car with both “mechanics” and “automatic”. This transmission breaks the connection between the engine and the gearbox. Let's look at the main cases of using neutral gear, their pros and cons.

Cases of turning on “neutral” on a manual transmissionprosMinuses
Coasting down a hill or towards a traffic lightThere is a slight fuel saving, there is no need to depress the clutch when brakingThe driver is not able to quickly change the trajectory of the vehicle in the event of an emergency
Short stops in traffic jams and traffic lightsThe driver can rest without pressing the pedalsNo cons
Long-term parking or parkingWhen starting the engine, the car will not jerk forward or backward as if a gear was selectedWithout leaving the car at speed, you have to use the handbrake. If the parking brake cable is stretched, the car may roll downhill.

Parking at speed

Driving the car with an automatic transmission, the owner does not have any difficulty choosing before parking. The automatic transmission has a special “parking” mode for this purpose. With a manual transmission, one of the options to leave the vehicle in the parking lot is to engage a gear.

Motorists who choose to park at speed recall the unreliability of the handbrake, which tends to fail over time. Also, owners of manual cars are indignant about frozen brake pads as a result of sudden temperature changes.

The disadvantages of parking with a manual gear engaged include the risk of forgetting about it and starting the engine without pressing the clutch. A jerking car may hit another car parked nearby.

Parking with handbrake

The classic way to park a manual car is to use the handbrake. The handbrake sets the brake pads in motion, which lock the wheel disc, preventing it from turning. If the parking brake cable is working properly and the weather is warm outside, this type of parking is ideal.

If the circumstances are unfortunate, the cable may be stretched and the car will begin to roll downhill. If the temperature changes from minus to plus or when snow gets in, the brake pads may freeze to the discs and the car will not be able to move.

Engine braking

Unlike an automatic, where there is only one way to brake, a manual has two:

  1. Pressing the brake and clutch pedals at the same time. This method allows you to brake smoothly and quickly without changing gears. It is most often used by drivers.
  2. Engine braking. This method is effective on slippery or snowy roads, when sudden braking can lead to skidding. The driver engages a lower gear, causing the engine to reduce traction and the car to brake. This braking option may be the only one in the event of brake failure.

The procedure for obtaining the right to an automatic and manual transmission

Attention! Any citizen of the Russian Federation who is 16 years old at the time the license is issued can drive mopeds and motorcycles. Categories A, B, C open after reaching adulthood. A group of licenses to drive a car with a trailer, trucks, buses is issued to students who have turned 21 years old. An educational institution will not accept courses if the student has not reached the required age to obtain a tertiary education in one of the groups.

To become a full-fledged owner of a driver’s license for a car with an automatic transmission or manual transmission, a cadet must:

  • learn theoretical information;
  • undergo practical training with an instructor;
  • pass a medical examination;
  • bring the documents that are required;
  • successfully pass exams;
  • obtain a driving license.

Documents you will need:

  • application for the issuance of rights;
  • passport identification;
  • certificate of registration at the place of residence;
  • medical certificate U-89;
  • certificate of completion of training in driving programs;
  • photo 3x4;
  • receipt of payment for exams.

Attention! The cost of a temporary driving permit is 500 rubles, and the state fee for issuing a license costs 2,000 rubles.

The license to drive a vehicle with an automatic or manual transmission is issued directly to those who have completed training. All information about this person is entered into a computer and stored electronically on the traffic police servers.

Cars for training cadets with disabilities are equipped with special equipment. This is done to speed up the production of rights.

To obtain a medical certificate, you must visit the following doctors:

  • otolaryngologist;
  • ophthalmologist. If the future driver has a slight visual impairment, then this will definitely appear on the driver’s license. It, like the symbol “AT”, will be recorded in the fourteenth line. The visually impaired driver symbol is displayed as GCL;
  • neurologist;
  • do an encephalography;
  • donate blood and urine for analysis;
  • expert in narcology. If the doctor discovers that the future driver uses even light drugs, then he may be suspended from training for any category of license, not just automatic or manual;
  • therapist. He gives an opinion on the degree of suitability to study for a license.

The theoretical part lasts 136 hours, the practical part – 56 hours for passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks.

If the future driver studied independently and wants to take the exams, then he needs to submit an application electronically on the State Services website or to the traffic police. If a cadet nevertheless decides to study at a vehicle driving school, and he does not have enough hours to gain solid skills, then he can turn to the instructors for additional time.

Dividing groups of students in a driving school into automatic and manual transmissions. Pros and cons

Auto Reflections December 17, 2012

Lately, I’ve been increasingly seeing training cars on the city streets with the usual signs: “A cadet is driving.” But in addition to the familiar “U” badges, the cars of driving schools now bear the inscription: “Training to drive with an automatic transmission” and the like. But let me ask: what exactly is there to learn there? Well, if you just turn the steering wheel and look around...

Nowadays, you won’t surprise anyone with an automatic transmission. And some people certainly like it. In Moscow and the cities of the Primorsky Territory, most motorists have long chosen cars with automatic transmission. But good old mechanics also has its supporters. But we will not touch on the eternal debate about what is better. As they say, to each his own.

The process of learning to drive is a serious matter. And the person who has received a driver's license must really be able to drive! How, pray tell, can you learn to drive a car with an automatic transmission? And what kind of driver will a cadet make who simply does not know how to handle a regular car equipped with a manual transmission?

Nowadays, in many driving schools in our vast homeland, this kind of separate training is being practiced with might and main. There is a group that learns practical skills with a manual transmission, and there is a group for those who do not want to suffer with the notorious “handle” and intend to drive exclusively with an “automatic” in the future.

In principle, if some young female chooses a car with an automatic transmission for training, she can be understood, because it is much simpler. And, probably, many people think that they will drive cars with automatic transmission for the rest of their lives. But here it is important to think a hundred times: after all, different situations happen in life. What if a friend asks you to drive his manual? What if, when choosing a car to rent abroad, the price of an automatic transmission is unaffordable, or will there simply be only cars with a manual transmission available? I'm afraid that people who only know how to drive an automatic transmission will get into trouble here. Well, what skills do they have? Gas and brake?...

To really learn how to drive a car well, you need to learn “mechanics”! After turning the steering wheel of the domestic “seven”, the cadet is not afraid of a single turn in a confined space. What about the legendary exercise on the overpass? A person with only “automatic” skills will never go uphill!

Training on a manual transmission is the basis. The student must be able to drive a car with a manual transmission: feel the dynamics of the car, move off smoothly, and shift carefully. And nothing will stop him in the future from switching to an automatic transmission and relaxing. There are no difficulties in learning to drive an automatic after a manual. Forgetting about the clutch pedal is all that is required.

But advertisements of private instructors offering their services for teaching driving with an automatic transmission convince the potential client that an “automatic” is such a specific device that even an experienced manual driver needs lessons in driving an automatic transmission in order to avoid getting into an accident.

It is worth noting that not all driving schools allow cadets to take the traffic police exam in the car they studied in. But then how can you hand over everyone’s favorite “slide” with a manual to someone who has spent all his practical hours with an “automatic”?

And even if in our country someday they introduce a stamp on your license for the right to drive only an “automatic” or only a “manual”, do not be afraid of difficulties: learn to drive a car with a manual transmission. After all, after this you will be proud to call yourself a real driver!

The concept of knowing how to drive, mentioned by the author, does not at all involve correct manipulation of the gearshift knob and clutch pedal. I’ve been driving an automatic for many years, and just recently I tried to get in and drive a truck with a manual transmission and managed it easily. I believe that every person should have a choice at which checkpoint they should take the exam. Comment | Reply with quote | Quote | Complain

-5 AvtoYa 12/19/2012 03:15 No, you definitely need to learn with a manual transmission. I can’t even imagine how someone “trained” in an automatic transmission can then get behind a manual transmission. After all, anything can happen in life.

+3 Alexander Viktorovich 12/19/2012 10:04 Undoubtedly, being able to drive a manual is good. But imagine that you learned to drive with a manual transmission, and for the next five years you drove a car with an automatic transmission. Suddenly you need to drive a manual one. Do you think everyone will remember the long-forgotten clutch - speed - gas? It seems to me that not many! Then why suffer and give up on fur?

-7 Mila 12/20/2012 02:06 My choice is definitely mechanics. It's much easier to drive an automatic, but it's not for me. Driving should be fun, but with an automatic you won’t get much of a feel for the car. It’s nice to slow down on a corner, squeeze the clutch, change gears. What about the automatic transmission? No fun.

+2 Elena 12/21/2012 09:08 Colleagues, you still won’t get real experience at a driving school. Why complicate the conditions for yourself and take the test with a manual transmission, especially since many driving schools give you the test with Zhiguli cars? Get your license and drive a manual car around the area in the evenings. As the all-knowing statistics say, the popularity of manual transmissions is now at an all-time low and it is unclear where you will suddenly need to drive a manual transmission.

+3 Valentina 12/26/2012 21:11 Automation is the future! I think in 30 years there will be no mechanics left at all. It's like with phones. Who needs a landline phone now if EVERYONE has a cell phone? But with driving schools everything is much simpler. They make money from this division. Suddenly someone wants to master both training programs. I think there are a lot of people like that, so here’s double your pay!

+1 Ilya 12/27/2012 09:41 In driving schools it has long been impossible to actually learn to drive. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what they teach there. But it’s very useful to start with mechanics yourself. You can always switch to automatic. But the automatic really steals the driving pleasure. Unfortunately, many people do not understand this.

-7 Julia 12/27/2012 12:51 Of course, it’s much easier to learn on an automatic machine. But what will a driver learning to drive an automatic transmission do if he urgently needs to drive a car with a manual transmission? An automatic is, of course, good, but for extreme trips (racing or just an outing), the best option, of course, would be a manual, because it will help you get out of any hole and mud.

+1 Alexey Bodry 12/29/2012 15:41 I think cadets should be taught to drive both cars with a manual transmission and cars with an automatic transmission. If a cadet is training to drive a car with a manual transmission, then he should, at least for familiarization, take a couple of practical lessons in driving a car with an automatic transmission. Another question is which car to take the test on. If you studied on a car with a manual transmission, then you must pass the exam on it, and vice versa.

-11 Natalya 12/29/2012 19:07 You definitely need to learn to drive ONLY with a manual. Then not one machine gun will be so scary. Can you imagine a situation where a driver with a manual transmission became ill? And next to you is only a person who knows how to drive an automatic transmission. What then? The best way out for those who know for sure that they will only drive an automatic transmission is to spend 50% of the lessons in a driving school on mechanics.

-1 Bonna 12/30/2012 5:06 pm When I was in driving school, we had cars with both manual and automatic transmissions. Basic skills in driving a manual car (training at the racetrack) were given to everyone without exception, but it was possible to roll back the clock in the city using an automatic transmission - mostly, of course, this was used by girls who in the future intended to buy a car with an automatic transmission.

-8 evgen1990 01/05/2013 01:54 No, whatever one may say, mechanics are the driver’s base. It is necessary to learn on this type of gearbox. Everyone must go through this in order to then safely get on the machine. It would not hurt to take an exam on the design and operation of a car and properly.

-6 MartineDonelle 01/12/2013 15:00 Of course, you need to learn mechanics. To then get high by switching to automatic. +2 gralexei 01/19/2013 01:19 In a normal driving school, you need to simultaneously teach driving skills in both manual and automatic. Without training in “mechanics” there is no way to learn how to use the clutch pedal. A couple of lessons on using an automatic transmission wouldn’t hurt either, so that you don’t confuse forward and reverse gears later, otherwise such craftsmen have been found lately. At the same time, they will learn about the “parking” position, especially for fans of alarm systems with auto start.

I don’t agree with this statement 100%.
A car with an automatic transmission has no special features when driving. It’s simple: press the gas and go, press the brake and stop. I know what I'm talking about, I myself have a manual car, and my wife has a car with an automatic transmission. +2 Elena 02/06/2013 19:30 I studied at a driving school in Vladivostok, where a car with a manual transmission is a rarity for an amateur. In the city, training was only automatic. Manual transmission - only 5 exercises on the site and that’s it, I don’t even know how to engage 2nd gear. A driver's license, just like everyone else. I only drive automatic.

0 NatalyV 02/06/2013 21:16 I specifically studied mechanics only. More than once I have seen girls in tears who did not pass their driving test only because: “I drove with Kolya in a red five, but during the exam they put me in a Priora.” Of course, now, put me behind the wheel of a car with a manual transmission, I will drive slowly and sadly, but I will drive. Constant practice - and the box will not be the determining factor in assessing the convenience of the car.

+4 Zhenya 02/12/2013 13:28 It seems like this is everyone’s choice. If a person constantly drives an automatic transmission, why should he initially learn to drive a manual transmission? Now, if he switches from an automatic to a manual for some reason, that will be his problem, he will undergo retraining as a last resort, again, if he wants. After all, the 21st century is truly upon us, and the machine gun is already appearing.

-7 Alexander 02/12/2013 19:59 Of course, this seems complete nonsense, the driving school is only for automatic transmissions, but for some females this is simply salvation, although it would be dangerous to put them behind the wheel, they would kill someone. I had an incident while taking an internal exam at a driving school; a madam of about 18 was standing in line in front of the race track, and instead of going into first gear, she put it in reverse. I won’t even tell you how she got through everything else. First, you should learn mechanics, and then drive your automatic machines.

And please, then get on the machine and there will definitely be no problems in operation, only relief.

It is generally more difficult for us women to understand how a car works, but with the help of a manual transmission this task is simplified. I understand how the car drives, and then you can switch to automatic.

-5 Victoria 03/14/2013 21:09 Complete absurdity. That’s why he’s needed as a specialist, to figure everything out. These are some kind of dropouts. Will they receive other knowledge from Uncle Petya or will they go back to study? Who benefits from producing half specialists and half amateurs?

-3 kati 03/18/2013 22:53 There shouldn’t even be any questions about this, of course it is necessary to train cadets to drive only with a manual transmission, in the future it will be clear what to drive. If you know how to handle a manual transmission, then you can easily handle an automatic transmission, but the opposite is unlikely. Learning to drive a car with an automatic transmission makes no sense, there is nothing to learn: gas and brakes.

-5 Elena 06/03/2013 11:03 I believe that all cadets should be trained in mechanics!!! I learned this way myself, then there will be no problems when driving an automatic transmission, it’s easy and simple. Because sitting behind the wheel of a car with a manual transmission, you begin to feel the car itself, without looking at the speedometer, you feel at what speed you are going. Your whole mind is focused on driving. I'm for manual transmission!!!

+10 Allen 10/27/2013 03:32 I think that there is no point in studying mechanics, I don’t understand what you need to be able to feel, but shouldn’t you feel a car with an automatic, and modern automatics are more reliable than manuals, especially since after 30 years a mechanic won’t will be produced because it will be replaced by DSG (double-clutch robot), and most car enthusiasts prefer an automatic because some models have a manual shift function (tiptronic), so the future belongs to automatics and there is really no pleasure in driving a manual

+13 Tatyana 12/17/2014 15:45 Why show off, saying that “you should study mechanics”? No one owes nothing to nobody. Why bother with the mechanics if you're not going to drive it??? It's better to spend this time improving in your profession! I also used to think that driving an automatic transmission was somehow scary, but now you need to drive a manual transmission! But this is purely to be proud of yourself! Ego! Nowadays there are normal cars with automatic transmission, and most already drive them. If someone gets a kick out of mechanics, let them. And others may get a thrill from the machine! Let everyone choose for themselves. And also, what does it mean “what to study there?” - a lot of things! Steering, parking, driving in the city, traffic rules!
