Validity period of the “Working days”/”Weekends” sign
“Working hours” is an information designation that explains additional information under the main sign, indicating the time and days of the week. The following categories are distinguished:
- Weekends and holidays.
The sign indicates a vehicle for which travel is prohibited during this time period. For example: January 2 from 00:00 to 04:00.
- Weekdays.
The sign is only active on specific weekdays.
- A certain day.
It is indicated on what day the ban or permit operates.
What to look for?
First of all, you need to pay attention to what signs are installed above the allocated lane.
The above signs, installed above the strip, can be used with certain plates that determine the period of validity of the sign:
- plate 8.5.2 “Working days” indicates that the signs are valid only on working days - from Monday to Friday, on weekends and holidays, movement on the “dedicated lane” is allowed.
- plate 8.5.6 “Validity time” means that the signs prohibit driving in the dedicated lane only on weekdays during the time period indicated on the plate. On weekends, as well as at other times, you can drive in a dedicated lane.
- plate 8.5.3 “Days of the week” indicates the days of the week on which it is forbidden to drive on the dedicated road; on other days it is permitted.
- plate 8.5.7 “Validity time” prohibits movement on the “separate lane” only on the day of the week and at the time indicated on it.

You cannot enter a dedicated lane if there is additionally one of the signs above it: 8.5.1 “Saturdays, Sundays and holidays”, 8.5.4 “Validity hours” or 8.5.5 “Working days”.
Sign area
Sign 8.2.1 “Area of Action” occupies a special place. The plate is colored yellow if you need to temporarily limit the activity of other notifications. Types of signs:
1Maintain a minimum distance and maximum speed.
2Overtaking for trucks is prohibited.
3Overtaking is prohibited for all vehicles.
4Prohibition of the use of a sound signal.
Duration of action
So, on what days the sign is valid is now clear. However, over what distance does its action extend?
In fact, it's simple.
Since the sign is always located together with any sign, it means that they will operate at the same distance.
For example, there is a “No overtaking” sign nearby. Its duration will be from 00:00 on Monday until Friday, when the arrows will show 23:59.
Generally speaking, “No Overtaking” is canceled:
- after the end of the zone of all restrictions or only overtaking.
- the nearest intersection,
- the designation “Beginning of a settlement” or its end, but only on a white background.
The latter option is extremely rare, since this sign is almost never installed on the highway. Its need in such an area is minimal due to minimal traffic congestion.
Therefore, specifically for the road sign in question, there is no predetermined zone in which it is valid. It is formed based on which sign is next to it.
Penalty for violation
- Violation of traffic rules provides for both administrative and criminal liability, regulated by the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code. The degree of liability depends on the severity of the offense.
- This obligation rests with the driver of the vehicle, and penalties are regulated by relevant codes.
- For ignoring the “working hours” signs, a payment of 500 rubles is provided. If the motorist turned around in the wrong place or stopped, then the cost of the fine will be from 1000 to 1500 rubles.
What to do if you are working within the range of the sign
Situations with this sign are different, as it is often used. It happens that a sign is installed on the road to your place of work, or in the parking lot. What to do then? How long does it last and how?
- “No traffic” and “Working days”. Under such conditions, a sign prohibiting further movement will be in effect for all vehicles on weekdays. However, people who work in this place can drive through at any time, including on weekends, but provided that it is a working day for the person.
- “Entry prohibited” and “Working days”. Under such conditions, the movement will be organized as well. It is prohibited to enter a certain area on weekdays, that is, it is allowed only on Saturday and Sunday, as well as on official holidays.
This restriction does not apply to people who work in the area covered by these signs. They can go there on any days, if for them these are work days. Also, the restriction does not apply to route vehicles.
The sign is also found in other situations, but they do not apply to the entrance to the place of work. As for its effect when approaching a place of work, it is worth noting that the restriction does not apply to people who work there. Consequently, the fine is provided under such conditions only for persons who do not work or live in such places.

Another prohibitory road sign is sign 3.3 “Motor vehicles are prohibited.” As the name suggests, the sign applies only to motor vehicles. According to , all vehicles driven by engines are classified as mechanical vehicles, with the exception of a moped.
Also, any self-propelled machines and tractors are covered by the sign. The remaining requirements coincide with the requirements of the previous sign, namely 3.2 “Movement is prohibited.” That is, the validity of the sign in question does not apply to cars transporting or driven by disabled people of groups 1 and 2, to cars of the federal postal service, as well as to cars serving organizations or citizens in this area, or belonging to them.
In principle, this is the same sign, only with some relaxation in favor of transport driven by muscular force.
8.5.5 "Validity time"
June 14, 2015 Administrator Home page » Road signs Views:
In addition to the signs characterizing the days of the week - 8.5.1, 8.5.2 and 8.5.3, which we discussed in previous comments - the Road Traffic Rules have four more signs of additional information that limit the effect of the signs established with them over time.
But not by days of the week, but at specific hours of a certain day of the week.
All these signs have the same name - “Action Time”. The principles of installation and operation of all these signs are absolutely similar to each other, so we will consider them in one general comment.
So, let’s analyze the standard versions of the “Action Time” signs proposed by GOST.
Tablet 8.5.4 means that a sign installed with it will regulate traffic on every day of the week, but from 8.00 to 17.30 (local time).
Plate 8.5.5 will inform the driver that the sign applied with it will only apply on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday at the time indicated on the plate.
Tablet 8.5.6 will make it clear that the sign installed with it will “work” only on working days and only from 8.00 to 17.30.
Finally, plate 8.5.7 will extend the effect of the sign installed with it to every Monday from 8.30 to 9.30.
Let's look at a specific example.
Judging by the traffic situation represented by the “No Parking” sign in combination with the “Validity Hours” sign, parking of vehicles on this section of the road will be prohibited only on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays and only from 8.00 to 17.30. Consequently, at other times the sign “does not work” and it seems as if it does not exist.
Naturally, there can be an incredible number of variations with “Action Time” signs. They can be represented by a wide variety of time periods.
The driver only needs to remember the principle of operation of the sign: it indicates a specific period of time during which the sign installed with it will be valid.

8.5.2 "Working days"
25 May 2015 Administrator Home page » Road signs Views:
This commentary on the additional information sign (plate) “Working days” (8.5.2) should be considered as a continuation of the previous commentary on the sign “Saturdays, Sundays and holidays” (8.5. 1).
Indeed, the “Working days” sign is installed with some sign and indicates that this sign “works” only on those days that are considered working days. This period is from Monday to Friday (except holidays).
Let's consider a specific example of a traffic situation with the use of the “No Overtaking” sign (3.20) and the “Working Days” sign.
Analysis of the presented figure allows us to conclude that on this section of the road overtaking vehicles (except for low-speed, horse-drawn carts and “flat” motorcycles) is strictly prohibited.
However, the existing ban, judging by the sign, applies exclusively to weekdays. That is, on weekends and holidays the “Overtaking is prohibited” sign does not “work” and allows drivers to make this very dangerous maneuver.
Thus, sign 8.5.2 “Working days” extends the effect of any sign installed with it only to those days of the week that, in accordance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, are working days.

Basic moments
Drivers are warned that parking of vehicles in this area is prohibited by a continuous line of markings along the roadway and special prohibitory signs:
- No parking;
- parking is prohibited on odd dates;
- Parking is prohibited on even dates.
The “No Parking” sign is a blue circle with a red border, diagonally crossed out by a red stripe.
In the area covered by such a sign, only parking is prohibited, but not stopping. Signs prohibiting parking on certain days are supplemented with vertical white stripes.
One such strip means parking is prohibited on odd days of the month, and two stripes prohibit parking on even dates.
Signs can be used either independently or in combination with information signs that provide drivers with additional information:
- about forced evacuation of illegally parked cars;
- about the extent of the sign’s coverage area, if it differs from the usual one;
- about the end of the ban.
Required terms
A parking ban on odd days means that you cannot park a car on a given side of the street on odd days of any month - 1, 3, 5,... .29, 31.
And vice versa, you can leave 2, 4, etc. You can stop on this side any day.
Parking on even days is prohibited means that you cannot park in the area of the sign on any even date of the month - 2, 4, 6... 28, 30.
On all other days, parking under this sign will be completely legal. Stopping is always permitted.
Rotation time is a daily period lasting from 19:00 to 21:00 when parking is permitted on any side of the street.
But this concept applies only on those streets where both signs prohibiting parking on certain days are installed at the same time.
Odd and even dates start at 21:00. That is, the effect of the “Parking prohibited on even days” sign begins at 21:00 on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc. of each month.
With odd dates, everything is exactly the opposite - they start at 21:00 on the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. of the month.
What do they mean
Signs 3.29 and 3.30 prohibit drivers from leaving their vehicles in their area on certain dates.

In this case, parking means stopping the movement of a vehicle for more than 5 minutes.
The engine can be turned on while the driver is inside. An exception is made only for postal vehicles, taxis and disabled people.
In addition to the temporary criterion, parking is also determined by the absence of actions related to loading or unloading various objects, as well as boarding or disembarking passengers.
These signs do not prohibit stopping to perform such manipulations. Forced parking caused by a vehicle malfunction will not be a violation.
But the driver must put up an emergency stop sign and turn on the hazard warning lights.
What regulations governs
Signs 3.29 and 3.30 are given in Appendix 1 of the Rules of the Road in the section “Prohibition Signs”.
Traffic rules regulate the main aspects of the use of such signs:
Spread of action | Only on the side of the street where the sign is located |
Length of validity of such a sign up to the intersection | Locality boundaries or cancellation sign |
Rearrangement time | When using signs together |
Exception | For postal and wheelchair vehicles, legal taxis |
Responsibility for failure to comply with the prohibition established by such a sign is provided for by the Code of Administrative Violations.
Article 12.16 of the Code of Administrative Offenses establishes a fine of 1,500 rubles for such a violation. If the instructions of the sign are ignored in Moscow or St. Petersburg, then the fine will double and amount to 3,000 rubles.
A car parked contrary to the rules may be forcibly towed on the basis of Art. 27.13 Code of Administrative Offences.
