This is a subcategory that appeared relatively recently. There is practically no clear information in official documents about what fits the definition of this car. Article 25 of Federal Law No. 196 states that this includes tricycles and ATVs.

Category C includes trucks of various capacities:

• weighing from three and a half tons;
• vehicles with trailers less than 0.75 tons.

Letter C includes all road transport used for cargo transportation.

Category CE includes vehicles with a trailer weighing more than 0.75 tons. The vehicle requires certain driving skills, because it is difficult to maneuver with such a heavy vehicle. There is a traffic ban on some roads.

C1 includes lightweight vehicles for cargo transportation. Parameters for these cars:

• weight from three and a half to seven and a half tons;

The total weight of a bus with a trailer must be within 12 tons. In addition, the trailer cannot be passenger - only cargo.

There are various symbols on a driver's license that allow or prohibit something. Point 12 is a column for special marks. Often, drivers see the “AS” mark opposite the “B1” subcategory. It only means that the driver has the right to drive a motorcycle or tricycle with a car-type steering wheel. Or, get behind the wheel of a two-wheeler with a car-type seat. There is another type of mark, this is “MS”. It allows you to control a two-wheeled vehicle with a motorcycle-type steering wheel and an appropriate seating position. They put it if category “A” or “A1” is open. If both categories are available to the driver, then the mark is not placed.

It is also possible to mark “AT” - automatic transmission, and “ML” - if there are medical restrictions for the M category.

Vehicle requirements

To re-register a vehicle, it is necessary to re-equip it. If this was the reason for the re-registration, then so much the better.

First you need to figure out what type of car you need to rewrite into another category. Since in the mentioned case the car belongs to category “D”, then it is a bus or the like.

Before changing the technical characteristics of a car of category “d” to “b”, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the requirements for the vehicle into which the owner wants to transform an existing one:

• The first requirement for a car is to have no more than 8 passenger seats. If this important criterion is not met, this may cause the traffic police to refuse to change the category;
• if you are going to hitch a trailer, make sure that its weight is no more than 750 kg;
• the total weight of the trailer and vehicle should not exceed 3.5 tons;
• Seat belts need to be changed. If previously there were belt ones, now three-point inertial ones are necessarily installed;
• if the vehicle weight is more than 3500 kg, then you need to rebuild the suspension so that it does not exceed this permissible limit.

All requirements are very important, because if any of them are not met, the car will not be transferred to category “b”.
