One of the largest state fees in monetary terms will have to be paid when registering a car with the traffic police, but only if you receive new license plates - for example, for a new car or if the previous owner decided to keep the plates when selling you his car. In this case, three state fees are paid: for issuing new license plates, for issuing a new registration certificate (SoRTS) and for making changes to the PTS.

It also happens that the PTS runs out of space or it was lost, then you will have to pay a state fee not for making changes to the PTS, but for issuing a new PTS.

By the way, what many call a “registration passport” (a pink A5 plastic card) is correctly called a vehicle registration certificate (VRC). Technical passports were abolished several years ago, but many drivers still call this certificate a technical passport (and we will be in this article).

What is the size of the state duty when registering motorcycles and trailers with the traffic police?

For registration of motorcycles and car trailers, the state duty for issuing license plates is slightly lower. Other state fees remain the same, as well as the form of registration with the traffic police is the same.

It is recommended to restore a lost PTS immediately after discovering the absence of a document.

Otherwise, some problems may arise, for example, when selling a car, it will be impossible to register a new owner and the transaction will be declared invalid.

If the title was stolen, for example, the car was opened after an accident in the parking lot, then an application to restore the document is submitted only after receiving a decision to close the criminal case, which requires at least 30 days.

The amount of the state duty for issuing a PTS consists of the cost of additional services provided by the traffic police:

How to pay duty at a discount

The State Services electronic portal gives users the opportunity to pay a discounted fee for making changes to the PTS. No additional actions are required - just register an account and a 30% discount is provided on all services of the portal. Select the required section - fill out the application - a receipt will be generated.

The portal will automatically offer to make a payment at a discount. Reduced cost only when paying online by credit card. If you print out a receipt, even from the State Services website, and bring it to the bank, the discount will not be provided.

Who pays for the replacement of the title upon sale?
